It is the feeling of dizziness without loss of consciousness for a very short period of time and with a rapid and complete recovery. It can be caused by intense emotions, long periods of fasting (common in people who do not eat breakfast), unpleasant visions, very hot places where they are very sheltered, people who stand for a long time without being able to move, excessive exercise, fear, pain, among others. others.
You should suspect it if the victim has a feeling of dizziness and it is accompanied by:
-Strange sensations (distant sounds, blurred vision, tingling in hands).
-Pale, cold and sweaty skin (especially on the face).
-Fall to the ground due to weakness in the legs.
-It is possible that if you look for the radial pulse (on the wrist) you will not find it or it may be weak, slow and even arrhythmic.
-Muscle weakness (muscles are loose and without tension).
-Nausea or stomach pain (cramping).
To do:
-Keep calm, control the situation.
-Prevent the victim from falling to the ground and lying him down. If she is already on the floor, place her lying face up and elevate her legs about 45º, anti-shock position.
-Make it easier for the victim to breathe without any difficulty (loosening collars, ties, scarves, belts, bras, etc.).
-Get a fresh environment with clean air in the place where you are by opening a window or undressing the victim a little if they are very warm.
-Avoid crowds of people around you. Never leave the victim alone.
-Call 112 and report what happened, explaining symptoms and changes in the victim’s condition.
-If the victim does not recover but responds, place him in a lateral safety position (see figure).
-Monitor vital signs and write them down.
-If you could have hit yourself when you fell, check for wounds or bruises, and proceed according to the injury.
-When the victim has completely recovered, sit him up slowly before standing him up and wait a while in that position to check that the dizziness does not recur.
-Try to find out what the victim was doing (especially exertion), if they have eaten and any illnesses they suffer from.
-When the emergency medical services arrive, explain what happened, the measures you have taken and what the victim was doing before the episode.
